Prof Janet Cade

Professor Janet Cade

Founder & Director

Janet is Professor of Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Leeds and founded Dietary Assessment Ltd in 2017. Her research explores the relationship of diet to chronic disease development. She has run the UK Women’s Cohort Study for over 20 years. A particular focus has been development of new diet assessment methods, including myfood24. She has also developed the Nutritools website supporting dietary assessment through guidance and access to validated interactive dietary assessment tools. She established the first World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre in Nutritional Epidemiology. This work includes developing a Nutrient Profile and Promotion model to evaluate commercially available baby foods.

She has published over 500 papers, abstracts and book chapters and generated over £6 million in research income (the majority as PI). She has previously served on the UK Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food (COT). She is Honorary Secretary for the Association for Nutrition, the professional body for nutritionists; protecting the public and promoting high standards in evidence-based science and the professional practice of nutrition.

Janet is responsible for engaging with international academic networks, promoting robust research, and helping cross the divide into healthcare.

In her spare time, Janet likes playing her violin in chamber groups with friends and walking the dogs.

Andy Duley

ANDY DULEY

Director

Andy boasts an impressive career spanning nearly two decades, focused primarily on the complex dynamics of university spin-outs. His extensive experience has allowed him to witness firsthand the potential of academic innovations and how they can be transformed into viable commercial ventures. This deep understanding, combined with his continual pursuit of knowledge, has cemented his reputation as an expert in the field.

At the University of Leeds, Andy assumes the role of Director of Commercialisation. Under his leadership, he not only oversees operations; he actively shapes the trajectory of the Company’s commercial actions. His keen business acumen and deep-seated commitment to excellence ensure that every venture is given the best chance to succeed. With a grounded understanding of the practicalities of commercialisation, Andy is a guiding leader for the entire team.

Andy is also the linchpin in the Company’s ongoing relationship with the University of Leeds. He diligently works to ensure that this bond remains strong and effective, recognising the importance of academic and commercial sectors collaborating harmoniously. With a clear understanding of the nuances of both worlds, Andy plays an indispensable role in bridging the gap, ensuring that the Company and the University move forward together, maximising their collective potential.

Chief Executive officer

Alice has over 10 years’ expertise working with start-up and scale-up health tech businesses, enhancing the healthcare landscape in the UK. She is driven by a passion for improving long-term health outcomes through education and the adoption of emerging technologies.

Her approach revolves around customer centricity, prioritising operational excellence and collaboration throughout the entire customer journey. Her goal is to create efficient, pleasing, and seamless experiences at every customer touchpoint.

By actively listening to and engaging with customers, she gains valuable insights that inform strategic decision-making and the development of personalised solutions. She embraces technology’s potential to empower individuals to take control of their health, which underscores her dedication to improving future health outcomes and driving positive, sustainable change.

In her spare time, she’s a keen sailor, who can most frequently be found around the East Coast on her day boat with her border collie as crew. More adventurous journeys have seen her crossing the South Pacific Ocean and the North Sea. When she’s not on the water, she loves to grow her own vegetables and cook big dinners for her friends and neighbours.

In his spare time, Leon enjoys travelling – both nationally and internationally especially with his family. He also has a deep passion for all things Formula 1 and track days.

Grace is a nutritionist with over 5 years of experience and a BSc in Nutrition from the University of Leeds. Using her deep understanding of nutrition science, Grace oversees the management and expansion of the company’s UK and international datasets, ensuring their accuracy, relevance, and completeness.

With the invaluable support of the data team, Grace actively explores new data sources, conducts comprehensive analyses, and devises innovative strategies to enrich the scope and depth of the datasets.

In addition, Grace also supports the company’s compliance management and product strategy.

In her spare time, Grace enjoys reading, and staying active through running and spin classes

Lucy clarkson

Nutritionist & database Manager

Lucy is a qualified Sport and Exercise Nutritionist (SENR) through her academic studies in Sport and Exercise Science (BSc) at the University of Bath and Sport and Exercise Nutrition (MSc) at Leeds Beckett University. An in depth understanding of nutrition contributes to the level of support Lucy provides to assist with the ongoing growth and maintenance of myfood24’s UK and international datasets.

As Database Support, Lucy works with the data team to improve our UK and international databases’ scope, depth, and quality, whilst working to consistently quality check and update myfood24’s functionality and accuracy.

Outside of the workplace Lucy keeps active through running and gym sessions and carries her passion for food into cooking and baking at home.

Jessica Eardley-Thompson

Nutritionist & Junior Account Manager

Jessica is a dedicated registered nutritionist with a genuine passion for promoting health and well-being. She developed an interest in nutrition early on, inspired by her love for cooking and sports, which naturally led her to pursue a Nutrition BSc at Liverpool John Moores University, obtaining a First. Her enthusiasm for the field continues to drive her commitment to helping others lead healthier lives. With over 10 years of experience in customer-facing roles,

Jessica combines her nutrition expertise with excellent account management and support skills, making her an invaluable member of the myfood24 team.

Jessica builds strong, lasting client relationships with her professional yet friendly approach, consistently providing high-quality service. She is dedicated to going above and beyond to meet clients’ needs and help businesses grow.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, staying active through outdoor activities like walking and yoga, and continuing her love for cooking and healthy living.

Anna Freeman

Interim Chief Executive officer

Anna Freeman has been described as exceptional, driven and personable. Born and brought up near London sporty and musical, Anna represented England in Table Tennis as a teenager and for many years was a lead singer in a gospel choir. In her thirties she took up boxing, having her first competitive bout just nine months later.  

Anna gained her Batchelor of Science from UCL in Technology & Management and then went on to enjoy a successful career in the FinTech space, largely in London. She worked on multiple start-ups including a role in the founding leadership team at Calastone. Calastone was identified by the UK government as a ‘Future Fifty’ company and is now the largest global funds network, connecting the world’s leading financial organisations.  

After her own personal journey to wellbeing and learning that money is the #1 cause of stress globally, Anna’s passion for wellbeing, and desire to make an impact, saw the launch of ZavFit in 2019.  Described as a pioneer in the GWI trends report 2021, ZavFit’s health-based approach to money stress flipped the paradigm going against industry convention by focusing on the health of the individual as an outcome.  

Anna’s passion for health & wellbeing extended into nutrition when she experienced her own gut health issues. This made MyFood24’s science led approach to diet optimisation the perfect fit for Anna to bring her business growth expertise deeper into HealthTech. She joined MyFood24 in 2025 at a critical time in our growth story. 

Anna lives in Edinburgh with her husband and two stepchildren.
