What’s New: Product and Database Updates for Q3
The third quarter of 2026 has been another productive period for the team at myfood24. From launching a brand-new Turkish food composition database to delivering new platform features and making important updates to our UK datasets. We’ve continued to strengthen myfood24 for researchers, healthcare professionals and participants.
Here’s a look at what’s new.
Product Developments
Customer feedback continues to play an important role in shaping the development of myfood24. This quarter, we introduced 19 developments and improvements across our platforms, helping to make our platform better for researchers and healthcare professionals.

Research
We’ve introduced further improvements to support researchers and streamline study management.
- Notes within the Research take control impersonator function allow researchers to add and save participant-specific notes, helping support interview-style dietary data collection.
- New admin notifications have been introduced to make the onboarding process more efficient and reduce the back and forth between researchers and the myfood24 support team.
Healthcare
We’ve also continued to develop our Healthcare platform, with updates designed to help healthcare professionals assess and communicate nutritional information.
- Macronutrient and energy expenditure calculations are now available within the targets page, allowing healthcare professionals to automatically calculate energy requirements and macronutrient targets.
- Already using myfood24 Healthcare? Visit our blog for guidance on using this functionality.
- Improved nutrient intake reports, making these clearer and easier to interpret, with bar charts now displayed by default alongside new nutrient intake charts on the report page.
Database Developments

Introducing our new turkish database
A major database development this quarter is the addition of our new Turkish food composition database, further expanding the international dietary data available through myfood24.
The database sits in our Turkish myfood24 locale and includes:
- 2,689 food and drink items
- 120 nutrient variables
- Full Turkish System translations
The database was developed through a collaboration with the University of Leeds and Turkish speakers, helping us extend myfood24’s support for dietary research involving Turkish foods and participants.

Expanding our food coverage
We’ve continued adding new foods and data to our dataset throughout the quarter, with ~3,000 new food items:
- 48 Dietary supplements
- 225 Branded food items
- 68 German food items
These additions form part of our ongoing work to keep our food composition databases comprehensive and relevant.
UK Generic and Branded Database Updates
Alongside expanding the foods available, we’ve made several important updates to our UK Generic and Branded databases.
New dietary preference data with food items tagged based on their ingredients (such as Vegan and Vegetarian)
- This information is available within Research breakdown extracts
Updates to free sugars and HFSS calculations
- We have updated our free sugars (FREE_SUGAR) variable to include fruit purées, bringing it in line with the definition of free sugars provided by the British Nutrition Foundation.
- As free sugars are a component of HFSS calculations, we have also updated the four associated variables for HFSS.
- You can read more about the British Nutrition Foundation’s definition of free sugars here.
Category audits
- We’ve also continued our auditing work focusing on categories across the database as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of the food data available within myfood24.
Looking ahead
There’s plenty more happening at myfood24 as we move into the final quarter of 2026. We’ll continue to expand and refine our food composition databases, develop functionality across our platforms and make improvements that support researchers, healthcare professionals and participants.
Thank you to everyone who continues to share feedback with us. Your insights help shape our development priorities and the future of myfood24.
Stay tuned for more updates from the team.
