Each international version of our data collection and dietary assessment software has been developed with care and diligence using tried and tested methodologies, all are underpinned by a localised and appropriate food and nutrient database. Currently, myfood24 is available for the following:

Europe

United Kingdom

The first myfood24 solution created - myfood24 UK - was developed at the University of Leeds and validated against independent nutrient biomarkers in collaboration with Imperial College London. Our flagship solution has been further developed to improve both the usability of the nutritional analysis system and to significantly extend the food composition database underpinning it.

The UK food and nutrient database has been developed by nutrition experts and includes generic food and drink items from McCance and Widdowson 7 (MW7) and a whole host of branded products available from major UK supermarkets and food retailers including restaurant chains, coffee shops and fast food outlets. Plus specialist items such as dietary supplements. Wherever possible, food and drink items have been mapped to MW7 items to provide a more complete nutrient profile for over 100 nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

A database of baby and infant foods - developed in collaboration with the University of Southampton;  a sip and tube feed database created with the University of Sheffield; and a database of South Asian dishes are also available use with myfood24 UK.

UK Research

Denmark

The Danish version of myfood24 was developed in conjunction with the Danish Cancer Research Society and has been fully translated into Danish. myfood24 Denmark is underpinned by a customised food and nutrient database, including items from Frida, to reflect typical Danish food and nutrient intakes. A small database of baby and infant foods is also available, developed with the University of Copenhagen.

Denmark research

France

Developed in collaboration with UniLaSalle, myfood24 has been tailored to support diet and nutrition analysis and research in France. Our system has been fully translated and has a food and nutrient database that includes generic items from CIQUAL 2020, typical French dishes from all regions of France and branded products from popular supermarkets, restaurant chains and coffee shops. To provide a more nutrient-complete profile, each food item has been mapped to CIQUAL 2020 items.

Germany

myfood24 Germany includes a fully translated system and a food and nutrient database tailored to the German population, developed in partnership with the University of Bonn. The unique food composition database includes generic items from the BLS v3.02 as well as branded items.

Norway

Developed in collaboration with the University of Agder, myfood24 Norway has been fully translated and is underpinned by a food and nutrient database that is representative of local dietary habits and patterns. The database includes generic items from the Norwegian Food Composition Table (2018), branded food and drink products and appropriate portion images and descriptions.

Middle East

The Middle Eastern version of myfood24 holds a variety of food and drink items from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan including some popular brands and traditional local dishes including: Majboos, Kabsa, Makloubeh, Moskhan. The system has been fully translated into Arabic and has been developed in partnership with the University of Leeds. All food and drink items have been mapped to items in McCance and Widdowson 7 for a more complete nutrient profile.

The Caribbean

myfood24 has been tailored for use within the Caribbean in collaboration with the University of the West Indies, the result is a food and nutrient database representative of dietary patterns within the region and includes local generic and branded foods and items from the USDA food tables.

United States of America

myfood24 USA is tailored for analysing dietary intakes in the United States and is underpinned by a food and nutrient database that has been created using the USDA food composition tables (Foundation Foods, National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference Legacy Release (SR Legacy), Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Studies 2017-2018 (FNDDS 2017-2018) and Experimental Foods). 

The database includes food and drink items typically found in supermarkets, fast food outlets and restaurants, in addition to more native and culturally diverse foods such as moose and elk. Appropriate portion size option and images are also included.

Peru

Our Peruvian version of myfood24 was developed in conjunction with Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and has been translated into Spanish. The associated food and nutrient database includes items from the Peruvian National Food Composition Tables as well as foods commonly consumed within the indigenous regions of the Amazon rainforest.

Uganda

In partnership with the University of Leeds, we have created a Ugandan food and nutrient database suitable for use within the region. The database includes traditionally eaten foods and items from African Food Composition Databases.
