Expanding Global Database And Enhancing Research and Healthcare Tools
We are pleased to share the latest updates to myfood24 from the first quarter of 2026. During this period we have focused on expanding our international food composition databases and delivering new product improvements to support researchers and healthcare professionals using the platform.
Expanding Our Food Databases
Our dataset continues to grow, providing users with more comprehensive dietary data. There has been the addition of 15,500+ new food items across our databases.
These new food items took our dataset to over 500,000 items! For more information see our previous post here.
This includes the introduction of two new databases to support international research projects:
- Brazilian food database, available in Brazilian Portuguese
- Canadian food database (Canadian Nutrient File (2015)), available in French and US English
- Swiss French Language and German Language database: new branded mineral waters
- Danish Database: 20 new sustainability metrics sourced from Agribalyse
- UK Branded database updates to expand our database and barcode offering
These additions expand the global reach of myfood24 and allow researchers to collect dietary data in more diverse populations.

Research Platform Enhancements
We have made several improvements to strengthen the research platform:
- Brazilian Portuguese language version to support studies using the new Brazilian database.
- Diary count and recall counter to improve the accuracy of current metrics and maximise researchers’ ability to monitor participant diary submission.
- Hide and lock diary functionality to enable researchers to freeze or hide parts of diary entries when entering items on behalf of participants. This will also allow for the application of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) method within research studies.
- Re-send link function to allow for researchers to easily send the study link to participants who may misplace their email invite.

Healthcare Platform Improvements
We have also introduced new features designed to support healthcare professionals using myfood24 in clinical settings:
- Customisable reports for more flexible, detailed and tailored patient data outputs.
- Healthcare professional dropdown to streamline practitioner selection by allowing the patient list to be filtered by specific healthcare professional.
- Decimal point support in data extracts for improved data accuracy.
- Active account symbols to help identify users whose accounts have been activated.
- New British Nutrition Foundation meal plans integrated into the system to support healthcare professionals in the assigning of meal plans to patients. Read more about the meal plans in our blog.

These updates reflect our continued commitment to improving global accessibility, research functionality, and clinical usability within myfood24.
